Sunday, October 25. Seahawks 20, Chiefs 3, and Kansas City has lost for the first time this season. Patrick Mahomes went 19 of 33 for 165 yards and an interception, a 58.3 rating, and CBS says the Chiefs never reached the red zone, which had not happened before in his career. Harrison Butker missed from 58 and from 45. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 9 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Sam Darnold went 20 of 28 for 257. Kenneth Walker III, back in Seattle, was held to 36 yards on 14 carries. "You got your tail kicked," Mahomes said, and blamed his own footwork: "my feet were kind of getting me into trouble." Travis Kelce moved past Marvin Harrison into fifth on the all-time receptions list on a night nobody in Kansas City will want to remember. Seattle was a 2.5-point favourite at bet365 and won by 17.
Sunday, October 25. Before kickoff, Yahoo's Ben Fawkes published BetMGM's five most-bet sides by tickets and by dollars. Here is how they did. By ticket count, Chiefs +2.5 lost by 17, 49ers -2.5 lost outright to Atlanta, Giants +10 won outright, Browns -2 won by three and Vikings -6.5 won by six. That is two winners and three losers. The handle list was worse. The 49ers were the biggest-money side and lost. Colts +6.5 covered. Lions -3 won by exactly three, a push. Panthers -3 lost by 30 to Tampa Bay, and Saints +3.5 lost by six to Pittsburgh: one win, three losses and a push. Caesars' Joey Feazel had said, "On Sundays, we've been seeing a lot of public 49ers action due to that offense." On Bengals-Ravens he reported "a flood of under money and Bengals." Cincinnati won 35-13, so half of that flood landed: the 48 points went over a 46.5 total. Five sides in one week tell you nothing about who is sharp. The one thing the tickets and the dollars agreed on was San Francisco, and San Francisco lost outright.
Sunday, October 25. Vikings 16, Colts 10. Minnesota is 6-0. All 16 points came in the second half. Kyler Murray was 14 of 24 for 150 yards. Harrison Smith, with his first interception of the season, picked off Daniel Jones near midfield with 1:15 left. Colts kicker Spencer Shrader missed twice, once from 56, and Indianapolis is 2-5 in the week GM Chris Ballard was fired and Shane Steichen was not. The Vikings were -6.5 and won by six, so the last unbeaten team in the league failed to cover. Their next game is at Detroit.
Sunday, October 25. Lions 20, Packers 17. Green Bay rookie Trey Smack missed a 26-yard field goal wide right on the opening drive. Late in the fourth, his 35-yarder was partially blocked. He is 11 of 16 on field goals and has missed two extra points. Asked whether Smack is still his kicker, Matt LaFleur said "Yes," and added, "We have to wipe this one clean and move on." Smack said: "I take accountability for my actions." A coach backing a rookie in public is normal. If Smack misses again, holding a tryout next week will be too.
Saturday, October 24. UCF 39, No. 2 BYU 31, in double overtime in Orlando. BYU's first loss leaves it 6-1. The Cougars blocked a 46-yard field goal near the end of regulation to force overtime. In the second overtime, a roughing-the-kicker penalty on Kendal Wall turned a UCF field-goal try on third-and-goal into a new set of downs, and Keyone Jenkins threw the winning 4-yard touchdown to Grayson Brousseau. "They deserved to win," Kalani Sitake said. "I think they tackled better than we did." Coaches usually point at the penalty. Sitake declined to, and it reflected well on him.
Sunday, October 25. Cam Skattebo ran for 124 yards in the Giants' overtime win in Houston, covered in yesterday's Sweep. He was also flagged for unnecessary roughness in the first quarter for lowering his helmet toward M.J. Stewart, and he expects a fine. "The NFL loves to post me when I do stuff like that, but then also wants to take stuff from me," he said. "I'm going to play for free." He has a point about the league's highlight accounts. The rule is still the rule.
Saturday, October 24. The NFL fined 49ers linebacker Fred Warner $65,673 for two fourth-quarter hits on Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo in Week 6: $17,911 for hitting a defenseless player, on a play where officials threw a flag and then picked it up, and $47,762 for use of the helmet on a play that drew no flag at all. Neither hit was penalised during the game, and both were fined afterwards. For fans who think replay review and the fines desk apply different standards, that is the evidence.
Sunday, October 25. Pistons 106, 76ers 93, Philadelphia's first loss. With Joel Embiid resting on a back-to-back, LeBron James started at center and had 18 points and 2 rebounds in 33 minutes. Detroit out-rebounded the 76ers 54-37. James was asked about rebounding afterward: "In the great words of Taurean Prince, who I saw tonight on the bench, a good friend of mine … The ball goes up in the air, and you go grab the ball." Two rebounds in 33 minutes from the starting center is what makes the line land.
Sunday and Monday, October 25–26. Jalen Williams was stretchered off late in Oklahoma City's win over the Clippers. On Monday the Thunder said he has a fractured left fibula and a dislocated ankle and needs surgery. We wish him a full recovery. Our NBA desk explains why last season's 39-10 record without him is the wrong number for pricing the Thunder's title odds. The day's betting lead: the NBA's new deals with Kalshi and Polymarket, and why the contract matters more than the CFTC memo.
What we are not running, and why
"Andy Reid takes full blame." The phrase appears only in a related-link teaser. When we searched for it, the results were coverage of a 2011 Eagles-Seahawks game. We found no verbatim quote from Sunday.
"Mahomes blasts Harrison Butker after the loss." This is a YouTube video from an unofficial channel, and no news report supports it. Mahomes' published quotes blame his own feet.
South Carolina's walk-off win over Tennessee. It appeared in one live-updates summary, but every result we could open was about the 2018 game. Until we can date it, it is not news.
Michael Penix Jr.'s postgame comments "sparking memes." The only source was a scraped page on an unrelated website, with no date.
Malik Beasley's guilty plea. His lawyer told ESPN on Saturday that no deal is signed and a decision is expected early this week. Until a plea is entered, the item has not changed.
Cowboys at Eagles and World Series Game 3. Both were still to be played at press time. We do not report scores we have not seen.
